Earwigs

Earwigs are dark, reddish-brown insects measuring 5/8 to 1 inch long, easily identified by the distinctive pincer-like forceps at the tip of their abdomen. These nocturnal pests are commonly found in moist areas such as mulch, under stones, and in organic debris, occasionally entering homes through cracks in foundations and around potted plants. Earwigs feed on both plant material and small insects, and while they don't bite, they can pinch if handled and may damage tender garden plants. Effective control involves reducing moisture around foundations, removing organic debris, and sealing entry points to prevent indoor infestations.
