Mediterranean Flour Moths

Mediterranean flour moths are gray-colored stored product pests that commonly infest flour, cereals, and grain-based products in Crystal Lake area homes. These moths are slightly larger than indianmeal moths and have distinctive zigzag patterns on their forewings. They can cause significant contamination of stored food products, with larvae spinning silk webs throughout infested materials and creating clumped, webbed masses of food debris. Early detection is crucial, as these persistent pests can quickly spread throughout pantry areas and are particularly active during Illinois's warmer months.
