Powderpost Beetles

Powderpost beetles are small, wood-boring insects known for their destructive habits. They have elongated bodies and are typically reddish-brown to black in color. One key characteristic of powderpost beetles is their ability to infest and damage various types of wood, including hardwoods and softwoods. Look for small, round exit holes in infested wood, along with fine, powdery frass (wood dust) that accumulates beneath the holes. Infestations are often discovered in wooden furniture, flooring, structural timbers, and other wood products.
